love imagination

Anna-Kate is 2 years, 8 months and 2 days old and I must say that this exact age has been one of my favorites yet.

Her newest thing is pretending. She has pretended to be swimming while playing at McDonald's, she has pretended that her little bike is a motorcycle (I have a wild one on my hands, you gals), she has pretended to be a frog, catepillar and a dog. It's the cutest thing EVER and I'm LOVING it! I feel like I'm getting a great glimpse into her little mind when she's pretending to do and be all of these things. It definitely puts a huge grin on my face.

Another thing she has recently started doing is telling her Daddy about her day. Obviously, it's not in complete sentences yet but lastnight I called him while he was at work, while I was putting her to bed, so she could talk to him for a minute because she wasn't feeling good. Their conversation went something like this:

AK: "went doctor"

Daddy: "you went to the doctor?" (all enthusiastic about it)

AK: "yeah.....I skeered"

Daddy: "aw, you were scared"

AK: "yeah...cried"

Daddy: "oooh, you cried? I'm sorry."

It was so precious. And while I'm talking about her conversation with her Daddy I have to say that he is such a GREAT Daddy to her. I love to just sit and watch the two of them interact with eachother. Sometimes I think she has a bond with her Daddy that I'm not sure I'll ever have with her and that's okay because I'm not her Daddy :-). But my goodness, they are so adorable together.

Disney on Ice

Last Thursday night the hubby and I took AK to see Disney on Ice. The main reason we took her was because Pixar Cars was going to be there. I was so excited to see the expression on her face. I knew she'd be in awe of it all. The girl loves her some Lightning McQueen.

When we got there the hustle bustle of the crowd had her in a trance. She just held Daddy's hand and walked along so politely. It was adorable and I'm still in shock at how she's basically become a big girl overnight. Wow.

The whole thing was pretty cool. I even enjoyed it. Yeah, I better have considering the tickets were $15 a ticket for each one of us. Yes, including the two year old. Those were the cheap tickets too. They went all the way up to $45. Um yeah, definitely not spending that much for a two year old to see some cars drive around on some ice.

Anyways, all in all it was great fun and little sister did really well. She came along for the food ;) and didn't make a peep one time. I think she just loved the fact that she was held the whole time. After the show and on our way out we stopped by a kiosk and bought AK an overpriced plush Lightning McQueen car pillow thingy. She was so happy and I loved to see it all over her sweet little face.

Below is a video of her face when she saw the cars entering the ice. It's like she couldn't believe her eyes. I love to see how her eyes were darting all over the place trying to take it all in. My my, I love that little girl.

AK's first hair cut

A certain two and a half year old got their first hair cut yesterday. The picture below shows she took it pretty well with her two suckers and Barney showing on the t.v. in front of her (that you can't see) but I'll spare you the pictures of her face as red as a tomato and tears streaming down her cheeks. Yeah, it wasn't all suckers and Barney.

I debated and debated on whether or not to give her some cute little bangs but then I remembered summer is just around the corner and how bad she sweats when she plays outside so I decided against them for now. I don't want her cute little forehead to overheat. Haha.

So, a basic trim was in order and some tiny layers to make her curls "pop" as the lady put it. It may be hard for someone to tell the difference who doesn't spend a lot of time with her but I can tell and that's all that matters :-). It's more tame and a little less crazy...and a tad bit shorter and EVEN which before it was many many different lengths. That's just how it grew I guess. Anyways, here are some pics for your viewing.

Awww, I love her wild hair...you know...except when I don't ;).

two month stats

A little someone turned two months old a handful of days ago. I took her for her two month check up on the first. The girl weighs 12 lbs. 3 oz. and is 21 1/4 inches long. She's in the 10th percentile for her height, 80th for her weight and her head circumference is in the 50th. She's growing, growing, growing!

Isabelle Grace is such a joy to our family. One of my favorite things so far is watching her and her big sister fall in love with eachother. It really is the sweetest thing. Why didn't anyone tell me :)?!?! Anna-Kate's affection towards Isabelle melts my heart. It really does. I can't believe I've had the privilege of taking part in creating these two amazing little girls! Wow. Wow. Wow.

I've noticed this past week or so that she is becoming so much more content chilling in her cradle while looking at her mobile, hanging out on her play mat, in her bouncer or swing without much of a fuss. Before, she wouldn't pitch a screaming fit or anything she just didn't want to be there and would get fussy. I think a lot of it had to to with her tummy problems but since that issue has mostly resolved itself she is a pretty pleasant little gal.

She smiles at the drop of a hat now and "talks and talks". I love hearing her little raspy baby voice. AH! So cute! I'm pretty confident that she's 100% sure who her momma is and the others she'll figure out later. They don't supply the goods so she's not that interested. HA! But she's content with someone else handling her for a LITTLE BIT but not much more than that. I sure hope she grows out of that soon. Momma could REALLY afford some time without ANY kiddos. Although, after both girls were in bed for the night (lastnight) I got to sneak away to the store and pick up a late night "snack", which turned out to be more of a meal, and a movie-Old Dogs=pretty hilarious!

We're kind of coasting into a routine finally. For the first month and a half I kind of let her do what she wanted. Eat when she wanted, sleep when she wanted, etc. Now she goes to bed anywhere from 1o-10:30PM (I just lay her in her cradle and turn her baby Mozart/Beethoven/Bach mobile on and she goes night night) and sleeps until around 4 (she's been doing that for a little bit) and then wakes up again around 7 or 8 to eat again. She then stays up for about an hour and usually insists on mommy time while big sister is still sleeping and then crashes in her swing for a couple of hours. Usually we end up going out for errands or a play date during that time so I just transfer her from her swing to her carseat and she pretty much goes right back to sleep. The rest of the day is eat, play, sleep.

I am IN LOVE with this little girl! Thank you God for another sweet healthy baby.

pictures for a friend

Yesterday I took some pictures of a little girl for a friend of mine. I had so much fun and really enjoyed photographing someone other than my girls although I DO ADORE them! I thought it was going to be easy peasy because she's five months old, can smile at the drop of a hat and she's not quite mobile yet, right? NOT right. The girl is pretty much crawling, rolls all over the place and even pulls up. Yeah, that didn't make for quite the easy session I was hoping for but it was still fun. And it helps that she's just precious.
