After MUCH research and MUCH talking with my husband we decided that going somewhere overnight wasn't quite in the budget right now. I was super bummed at first but I made him promise me that the two of us WOULD get away for a WEEKEND before this baby comes. Sounds like a good deal eh? I think so. Instead, we'll just do a day out kind of thing. Go see a movie, go to dinner, probably go somewhere pretty and fun. Who knows really. But anywhere but home will be nice.
Anna-Kate has been cracking me up lately. Yesterday her Daddy asked her if she wanted a piece of cheese and she said, "WOO HOO!". It was sooo funny. By the way, she loves cheese. A lot.
Lastnight when we were putting her to bed I said, "oh my" for some reason and she repeated with an, "ooooh my" in the countriest sounding voice. It was hilarious and I laughed.
This morning when I went in to get her up at 9:45, and no this wasn't from her nap this was for the morning, she was saying, "woo hoo. ooh my. woo hoo. ooh my." It was flippin hilarious...to me anyways. I am so thankful that she's a wonderful sleeper and when she's not sleeping she's so great about staying in her bed and talking, looking out the window and doing her own thing until Mommy comes in. She hasn't gotten out of her bed since that nap where she got two spankings in one naptime. Ever since then, a perfect angel :-).
She still LOVES to play, "hi", which is hide (in a whisper mind you). She hides all the time. When it's bed time, when it's time to change her diaper, when she sees a blanket, pillow or anything that seems like it would be fun to hide under.
She still LOVES to play in the water, which for me isn't so great this time of year. I so wish I could take her outside more but it's SO FLIPPIN HOT here! I just haven't been able to brave it the past week or so. I really should though, for the sake of her. I HAVE to find something fun for her to do that's indoors and still releases the same amount of energy as being in the sun. Maybe I should put a heat lamp in her room??? Maybe I'll just take her to McDonald's for the third time this week???
Well, that's all I can think of for now. Until next time, peace out.

three years-need ideas!
On July 21st, my hubby and I will celebrate three long years of marriage. I say long because it feels like we've been married forever! I'm not sure if that's good or bad ;-).
Our first year of marriage was not at all what I had "dreamed" it to be. It wasn't a smooth transition into the perfect marriage. You know, I guess some find this time in their life easy and some just don't... and we didn't. Of course, it was pure bliss at first but once laundry, dinner and all the marital responsibilities kicked in we were having a pretty difficult time.We had no clue about being married. We both come from divorced parents whom are all remarried. Most of their second marriages have been successful thus far-all minus one. ANYWAYS, we just had noooo clue. For our first anniversary we didn't get to have a nice vacation like a lot of couples do. I was due to deliver AK at any time.
Our second year of marriage ran a little smoother. We welcomed our first beautiful and spunky baby girl into the world just a month and 5 days after our first anniversary and our lives have never been the same! She has been the main joy in our eyes when it seems nothing else is going right. We have enjoyed our second year of marriage as a family of three. For our second anniversary we didn't do anything yet again because we weren't at the point of leaving her overnight yet. I know, she was almost one!...and guess what, she's almost two and we still haven't left her overnight ;-). We did enjoy a nice dinner though.
Our third year has been rather difficult with the move and all. We've gone through some things recently that I would rather not have been through BUT it has made our marriage that much stronger. And I'm so serious when I say that. The Lord has been in the middle of it all because I KNOW that without Him things would not be good. He has given me so much grace and peace over the past week or two that I can't help but be thankful. He has changed our hearts and I'd have to say that right now, in our marriage, we are better off than we've ever been. I am soooo very blessed and thankful. THIS YEAR for our anniversary I want to do something FUN with my husband! We WILL be leaving AK overnight and we will be getting out of dodge even if that means we'll be sleeping in a tent somewhere!...we still haven't figured out what to do. I've been researching some things online but everything seems to be a little bit too pricey for our pocket book. I looked into staying on the River Walk in San Antonio BUT the rooms there are a bit too much for our budget. Then I thought it would be super fun to go down to Kemah in/near Houston and I found somewhere we could possibly stay BUT the drive is close to four hours. AHHH. Dallas just doesn't seem like fun because we've gone there a lot and we live near Austin. What shall we do?? Anyone have any ideas??? I'd love to hear!!!
Year four, here we come! I KNOW this year is going to be the best yet.

life! and all that goes with it
I've been faced with hard choices lately. One I will not mention. And the other I will.
My hubby has been looking for a full-time job for quite some time now. He applied for a state trooper position and was supposed to go take the test today.
Over the weekend, while we were in Waco, he was offered another job opportunity that seems like a better "deal" than the state trooper possibility. We decided together that he would not continue with the state trooper deal because it would inevitably put us in a position where we'd rather not be. That being that he'd be committing to a job for more than a couple of years. We both only have two classes each that we need to take in order to be able to apply for MAF. If he did the state trooper deal then that would be put on hold for a long while when all we need is about a year, at most, to complete the requirements.
This other option would be full-time, more flexible, less training and the commitment is as much and as long as we choose. We're not trying to take the easy way out by any means, just trying to be as wise as possible to get to our ultimate goal. Also, with the state trooper thing he'd have to be away for 6 months at a police academy starting at the end of September...which would put him there a month AFTER the baby is born. This is not okay with me. The more I thought about it the more I cringed at the thought of being home alone with my two babies for a month...and in the very beginning stages of it all. No thank you. Not only that but being at the very end of my pregnancy, alone and with a toddler. AHHHHH.
Mainly, I want my husband's dreams to come true. If his dream was to be a state trooper I'd be rooting for him to do that. If his dream was to drive a school bus I'd be rooting for him to do that. If his dream was to be an acrobat I'd be rooting for him to do that. BUT, since his dream is to be a missionary pilot I (we) must closely consider the wisest steps to get to that point and do what it takes to be there. And if doing what it takes means going against whatever everyone else seems to think would be the better decision than that's what we have to do.
I want a comfortable life, like every other woman out there, but I want a meaningful life also. Obviously, raising my kids is as meaningful as it comes but I want something so much more for my family. I want to live with compassion, I want to make a difference, I want my kiddos to know what it means to give, help and appreciate all the good things out there. As much as I'd love to live the "American dream" I'd so much more love to be living it some where that my husband is living up to his FULLEST potential in life, my kids are happy and safe and I'm able to make a difference. Whether that be here in Texas or across the world in India, I don't care. Obviously, I haven't talked about this much at all on my blog, I lost my vision for it all once we got to a place where it seemed it would never happen, but I don't want to lose vision. I don't want to replace the reality that the world is in need with the fantasy that everyone everywhere is living an easy and happy life.
I must keep before me always, "Where there is no vision, the people perish" Pv. 29:18
All that to say that just because it's not the ideal for your family doesn't mean I think you less or weird. It makes you different than our family and different is good! If we were all the same the world would be way boring and friends wouldn't be as much fun. And I do love the few friends I have!
I'm not sure if any of that makes any sense at all, I'm just trying to process everything. If you have any words of wisdom or encouragement feel free to leave a comment ;-).
