doctor, doctor, doctor

Today I took AK to the doctor because she's been having a nasty cough, semi-runny nose, ear tugging and a diaper rash that won't cease to exist. We left with a prescription for some anti-fungal ointment and one for an allergy medicine. Niiiiice. Seriously, I have no idea how she got the whole fungal thing on her hiney. Really, it WAS just a bad diaper rash so he prescribed us "Happy Hiney" without even seeing it. After using that for about a week or so he took a looksie and tada, he said it looks fungal. It's kind of embarrassing to mention because it makes me think that people will think I don't clean my kid. I DO. That's all that matters. ANYWAYS, her right little ear drum is pink too :(. Hopefully with the allergy medicine her cough will subside and her nose will clear up and then her ear will be able to get better.

One more thing, she has LOST weight since she was there a week and a half ago for her one year checkup. This happens often. It takes her FOREVER to gain weight and once she does she ends up losing a little bit. He (the doctor) asked how her appetite has been. I say horrible for months. He then asked me when her next appointment with the pediatric cardiologist was. I told him next month. He said I need to be sure to mention her appetite, lack of consistent weight gain and her weight loss because this can all stem back to her heart problem. If that didn't give me enough to stress about! It makes me want to take her to Austin for that appointment TOMORROW so I can figure out why my kid isn't eating. Seriously, I give her things that I wouldn't really want her to have on a regular basis, things most kids would chow down on, and she just throws it on the floor. Blueberry waffles, donuts, cheetos, granola bars, grilled cheese sandwiches, mashed potatoes, hotdogs and other random stuff. She usually will eat the cheetos and mashed potatoes but I can't give her that for every meal! My goodness. I'm really struggling here. I really don't know how to make her eat. She'll eat the mess out of watermelon but that doesn't really fill you up. Plus, watermelon is expensive...in the little already cut containers. And pears, she does good with those, but fruit has a lot of sugar. I can't give her fruit for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Not only the sugar aspect but she'd probably keep a diaper rash if I did that. Ugh, I don't know what to do with my kid. But I still love her.

Well, I'm off to clean some house now. (I took off of work today)

Hang in there mommy you are doing a great job with her despite the heart condition that could be the cause of her appetite and such. We are praying for AK and you and Sean that you will reach out and grab hold of God in all this confusion and "turmoil". Love y'all.
