Wednesdays

Now since I have the opportunity to be with Anna-Kate on Wednesdays I get to see how she interacts with other kids and what she likes to play with. It's fun to see but it can most definitely be irritating because she is so whiny! I KNOW! TERRIBLE! I didn't know my kid acted like that! At home she does so well to play on her own and not needing mommy RIGHT THERE every second of the day. At MDO she almost is always sitting on a teacher's lap or sitting beside a teacher playing (as much as I can tell anyways). I'm sure it's because she is having to make a huge transition from playing alone at home (or with mommy) to being in a room full of kids her age with 2-3 adults. I mean, I guess it's a big deal in her little mind. Overall she does fairly well though.

But as I experienced on Wednesday (my first time to be in her class with her), if mommy is around she wants to be with mommy. It was really difficult trying to balance my time between all of the kids. I didn't want to show more attention to her than I did anyone else but it's kind of hard when she's climbing up my legs half of the time or sitting on the floor, looking at me with this oh-so-pitiful face that says, "Mom, why are you letting me sit here and cry like this?!" I'm sure with time we'll get this down to a 't' but for now, it's hard. Plain hard. No way around it. I mean, for a whole year she had mommy's full attention, rarely spent more than an hour at a time with other kids and was hardly ever babysat. So, I guess in a way it's my fault that this transition is so difficult for her but I think over time she'll get the hang of things and it won't be so hard. HOPEFULLY!

Here are some pictures of her time on Wednesday:
