dentist

I just got home from taking AK to the dentist and a trip to the grocery store.

The dentist=no fun for the tot. For one, she's not okay being confined in a place that she wants to get into everything her little fingers can touch explore. And two, she's not so fond of laying her head in some strangers lap with his fingers all up in her grill. HAHAHAHA. Okay, all joking aside, she hated it. She screamed her head off...which I guess was good in a sense because he was able to get a good look at her teeth and such. He said they look great, applied some fluoride paste on her pearly whites and we were on our way with rubber glove chicken balloon in hand. I didn't get any pictures because that would've been too much to handle at the time.

Then to the store we went.

Usually, I have a really hard time with her at the store. I haven't exactly made her sit perfectly still and quiet through the much dreaded appending doom shopping trips. A lot of times I end up holding her, pushing the cart with one hand all the while trying to handle a grocery list and trying to control teeny hands from grabbing things off the shelf. It's not a pretty picture ladies. Not one bit. I really wanted to start early with sitting nicely and quietly, buckled in, not having mommy balancing a circus act or standing in the back of the basket going through stuff while doing the shopping but I failed. Big time. I allowed the loud voice that comes from her little body to control me for the sake of others...and my sanity. BUT the other day when I had to make a quick run to the store I put her in the basket, buckled her up and made her sit there the whole time. AND guess what, she didn't even really object. She kept tugging on the belt saying, “uh-oh” like it was an accident that she was actually strapped in but she stayed calm and stayed in. It was so nice! So I tried it again today. At one point, she actually climbed out of the strap while I wasn't looking because I had it too loose. So I carried her for a few minutes and then we tried it again, this time tightening the belt, and that's where she remained the rest of the trip. She wasn't as okay with it as the other day but she dealt just fine. What a relief.

So now, I'm going to go relax while she makes tons of racket in her bed naps (maybe a cinnamon roll and apple juice before nap wasn't a good idea afterall-I HAD TO PUT AWAY GROCERIES. GA!). Tata.
