ultrasound & doctor visit

Today I went for my 12 week check up and had the first screen done. We started out with getting the ultrasound. I had to drink 20 ounces of water before I went and let me tell you, that was rough. The baby was moving about when she first started the ultrasound and then out of nowhere it fell fast asleep...or was playing possum. It was kind of funny because it had it's back turned to us and was as still as could be and the woman needed the baby to be facing up. So, she told me to go empty SOME of my bladder to see if that would help wake up the baby. Do you know how hard it is to partially empty a bladder?! NOT easy, I'll tell you that. So, I pottied, jumped up and down a couple times and hopped back on the table. That seemed to do the trick. The baby rolled halfway over, enough for her to get what she was looking for, and made us ooh and ahh over the whole process. It was quite interesting.

After that, I saw the doctor. Nothing much went on there since it wasn't my actual doctor. He was out of town.

From there I went to get my finger pricked. Now that was interesting. The guy cleaned my finger with alcohol, pricked it, squeezed it, cleaned the first drop off and then when he went to squeeze to start the whole thing blood shot from my finger. It was nuts. I've never seen that happen before and neither had he. We were both laughing so hard. So, that was different.

Now, for the pics :-)

^^^How cute is that! I think the baby was saying hi! The baby was facing down so here you see it's back with the head on the left and arm and hand right above that.^^^

^^^Profile shot-head on the right^^^

^^^I really don't prefer this pic because I feel like my child isn't human BUT you can see the brain-which are the two dark spots on the left side of the pic. Then right under that you can see the eyes, nose and mouth. You can even see an arm extended going towards the bottom of the picture and the rest of the body going towards the right. Regardless of it looking like an alien I think it's amazing this can be seen.^^^

So there you have it folks, baby #2 at 12 weeks and 2 days!

That is one gorgeous little alien you got there! HA! I am glad everything looks good with him or her and that your appointment went well. That is wild what happened with your finger and blood though. I don't think I could have handled that, i cannot stand the sight of blood!
